Michael Jackson is, to me, one of the most tragic figures in American celebrity history. This is a man who is tremendously gifted--his "Off the Wall" album has really stood the test of time for me, and I like it even better than his later smash hits. He had everything in the world one could possibly want, but seems to be at best mentally unstable (the plastic surgery, the chimp, the obsession with childhood) and at worst a pedophile (and still mentally unstable). I don't know, of course, whether or not he actually sexually molested any children, and I pray he didn't, but he makes it very hard not to draw that conclusion. Nonetheless, I pity him.

"Thriller" was my first cassette tape. He's tragic and its sad that all that fame when he was younger destroyed him as a man.
The Jackson Five were one of the original "boy bands."

TMZ is reported Jackson died. So far traditional media continues to report only that he was hospitalized and hospital spokesmen cannot comment.

Sad. Farrah, Michael Jackson -- my bet is that Lindsay Lohan is next. Seriously.

Unbelievable. I feel bad for his family.

I was hoping something would come along and knock the super-annoying Jon & Kate from the top of the entertainment headlines, but I wasn't expecting this.

I'm so sad. When I was little I used to watch "Jackson 5" cartoons. Little Mikey was probably my first "crush", he was just so adorable. *sniff*

I just have to say that I have always had a hard time buying that MJ was a pedophile. As an adult he has always struck me as someone that is completely asexual.

I am so sad. There will never be another MJ. I never believed for a second the allegation that he was a pedophile.

The living legend is dead. How tragic and sad this day is to lose two of our history's biggest icons. To lose Michael is to lose a great chunk of American pop culture. It's hard to believe that one man could have such an enormous impact for this enormous amount of time. I, like so many other young girls and boys, adored him when I was young and he still fascinated me to this day.
RIP MJ.

This is really sad. Michael was the king of pop, and Farrah was everyone's icon.
My prayers are with both of their families.

How incredibly strange that America loses two icons on the same day. Farrah was expected with her cancer battle, and even though, Michael Jackson seemed to have been suffering his death was not expectedto happen this soon. Being a child of the 80s, I will forever love Michael's Thriller Album. I hope Michael has finally found the peace he so desperately seeked for on the planet.
