In the 2/16 Soap Opera Digest Cover Story, it's spoiled that Abe (that's right, Abe!!) peforms the marriage ceremony, and Melanie does in fact become Mrs. Phillip Kiriakis. As a DAYS viewer who enjoys Melanie & Nathan along with Phillip & Chloe, I am very disappointed. By the way, as a surprise to no one Stephanie throws away the note Mel gives her to deliver to Nathan. Oh the angst. |

I think Abe being the mayor of Salem can do weddings, but its still weird to see a DiMera by marriage preside over a Kiriakis wedding...lol |

We were talking on another board about Abe officiating and people were saying Phelony aren't religious and I'm saying: and EJ and Nicole are? They got married in church. It's very weird that they dragged out the St. Luke's set for EJole, a couple who have little family and practically no friends in Salem, such that they had to use extras even for the tiny three pews St. Luke's has, but they don't marry off Phelony in the church. Look at how many more family members/involved folks have to be there (or at least should be invited): Lucas, Bo, Victor, Vivian, Brady, Arianna, Stephanie (we know the last two are bridesmaids for WHATEVER reason), possibly Hope, Carly, Daniel, Chloe, maybe Kate if she's still welcome and if she is then Stefano too. I think I read a spoiler that Maggie isn't going to go to the wedding but normally one would expect her there since Melanie is apparently the greatest thing ever to happen to Maggie. It is kind of interesting to think about the recent weddings. By "recent," I mean, since I started watching again in late 2005/2006 and was shocked at how cheap the show's weddings had gotten. Church weddings: Brady and Chloe Lucas and Carrie (I think--right? They got married in church?) Lucas and Sami The EShami marriage of convenience EJole Bope vow renewal Sami's aborted wedding to Austin Non-church weddings: Shelle (at Bope's house) Phelony (at KiMansion) Lucas and Chloe (Vegas JP) J & M (vow renewal at hospital before being rushed off to Switzerland) Carrie and Austin (JP wedding before being rushed off to Switzerland) Kate and Stefano (Chez Rouge; of course, St. Luke's would have exploded) |

I will never forget EShami's black St. Luke's wedding since the coerced bride was dressed in black and there was literally 4 people who attended which includes the gunman. Maybe since Phillip's first wedding to Belle was at St. Luke's, he decided against it. I guess Maggie just can not bear going to a wedding so soon after Mickey's death, but Melanie is her surrogate daughter. I guess it will be another thing for Melanie to freak out over at the day of her wedding. I was so hoping Melanie would not be Mrs. Phillip Kiriakis. Phillip is going to have a child for a wife. It is a new sleazy low for Phillip. Shivers. |

I do find it weird that Daniel and Chloe still haven't set a date since they've been engaged for a while, but I guess the show had to rush the Phelony wedding so as to make Vivian trying to kill Mel the big sweeps story for February. Maybe May sweeps will be Chloe realizing she can't marry Daniel because he's discovered Melanie is his daughter and he and Carly have been getting closer. Maybe that will also help push Philip and Chloe together? I still don't understand what the show's plan is for Stephanie, which annoys me because I do like her and would like for her to be in a good romance with someone who wants her and with whom SH has chemistry (which leaves out Philip IMO but I understand people feel differently). Anyway, I hope Melanie doesn't get around to writing out too many thank-you notes on engraved "Mrs. Philip Kiriakis" cards. I don't care how their marriage ends as long as it ends soon and permanently. I can almost not even remember the time Philip didn't make me want to throw up. |

The speculation of Phillip perhaps not wanting to get married at St. Lukes being that he married Belle there kinda makes me smile cause despite his black wedding at St. Luke's, EJ was all giddy about marrying Nicole at St. Luke's so much so he even put the announcement in the paper before talking to Nicole...lol Oh how I miss EJole. As to Stephanie, I think she is going to be the Brady black sheep. Finally, I pray to that Phillip & Melanie's marriage will be shorter than a pretend marriage experiment for a high school project assignment...lol. |

Speaking of weddings, and I believe we were, here's a montage of weddings up through 1990--Alice (sniff) is telling Carly about some of Salem's weddings as part of a 25th anniversary thing: Aww Shane and Kim, Justin and Adrienne, Roman and Marlena, John (Roman II, I think) and Marlena, Steve and Kayla on the boat, Tony and Anna, even Dr. Neil Curtis and Liz. I feel comfortably certain Phelony will not live up to ANY of these. |

Awww, thanks, Paxton, for that montage looking at all those looks of love between the bride and groom got me all misty eyed. Its looks like DAYS spent serious money on Bope and Payla's 1980s weddings with remote locations. Rest in Peace, Frances Reid! I am almost certain we will get no real sincere looks of love between Mel & Phil since just minutes before the ceremony all Mel can think about is Nat and wanting to hear him say that he loves her. I hope the guests of Phil & Mel's trainwreck wedding kept their gift receipts...lol |
