''I'm so sorry. We did all we could'' Kayla says. Nicole sits on a couch with EJ. They slowly look each other, and Nicole starts to cry. ''Do you know why this happened?'' EJ finally asks. ''No. If you would like to find it out, we need to do couple exams...'' Kayla answers, but Nicole interrupts. ''Only thing you care is just some stupid exams! My baby.. my little miracle....'' Nicole says, but can't finish her sentence. Kayla leaves the two alone. EJ stares Nicole with empty eyes, and says: ''We'll make through this. I'll promise.'' Slowly Nicole lookes up to EJ. Her face is wet, and her eyes are red. Only 3 hours before, she was happily at the mansion decorating the nursery. And now.. Her dreams crushed down so fast.. She could't handle it. ''EJ. Leave me alone, please.'' EJ looks at Nicole, but leaves. Before stepping out of the room he says. ''I wont let you down, okay. I'll be there for you. I'll support and take care of you. 'Cause we're unable to manage from this all by ourselves. We need each other.'' (So this was the start of the story. Okay, sounds like fun! Here's my contribution: Nicole sank back against the couch in Kayla's office, not quite ready to get back up. She kept thinking that maybe if she sat here, here in a doctor's office, in the hospital, that maybe none of this was real. Maybe her baby was still alive, and developing inside her. But the dull aching told her otherwise. There was a soft knock at the door, and Kayla came back in. Kayla came and sat next to her, placing her hand gently over Nicole's. "Nicole, I can't force you to receive medical treatment, but my recommendations are still the same. And I'd like to talk to you for a moment, if you don't mind, about getting some help. Some help with your emotions." Nicole, without raising her eyes from her hands in her lap, said dully, "A psychiatrist. No thanks." Kayla said, calmly but gently, "I think you're going to need the help, Nicole. I was terrified when I thought we were going to lose Joe . . . if we had, I know I would have needed help. Not just from Steve, either. You can't just rely on EJ." Nicole shook her head. "I probably can't rely on EJ at all. Now that our baby is gone. It was always so important to him that I was the mother of his child . . . now that I don't have that, I think he'll leave me. Another failed relationship for Nicole Walker Robbins Roberts Kiriakis Walker." Nicole tried to laugh, but it came out as a choke. Kayla sighed. "Nicole, I'm not a counselor or a relationship advisor. But I saw the way EJ was looking at you. Yes, he's disappointed about the baby, but he doesn't blame you. Don't shut him out. Unless he told you he wouldn't be there to support you--did he tell you that?" Nicole said, "No. He told me he'd be there for me. I just don't know if I can believe him." Kayla smiled. "You'll never know if you can or can't if you don't give him a chance. Right?" Nicole still was not cheered. "I don't know if I should even bother. There's always--she spat the name out bitterly--Sami. But never mind, you're her aunt, I won't talk about her." Kayla said, "Nicole, believe me, if you think I want EJ and Sami together, think again. I still have my own problems with EJ for what he did to Steve." Nicole looked at her curiously. "What he did to Steve?" Kayla was looking somewhere off in the distance, her face hard, but she shook herself when Nicole asked her question. "Never mind. It's not important. You can ask EJ about it if you want, but right now I would advise you to please change your mind and let us examine you again and check you into the hospital. You need medical treatment." Nicole stirred. "You're right. I'll at least get examined. I'll think about seeing a psychiatrist. Just not Marlena." Kayla said, "Well, we'll take one thing at a time." She helped Nicole stand and took her from her office back to the exam area. As they passed the waiting room, Nicole saw EJ sitting there, his head buried in his hands. She stopped momentarily, and saw him lift his head and look around; she could not see clearly, but it looked as if he had been crying. She started towards him, then thought, "I'll see if he comes to me. I'll see if he really meant it." Edited by Paxton, November 2, 2008, 4:23 pm.

Nicole started to walk towards the door. She slowly and calmly stepped out of the waiting area, and just when she was about to close the door behind her, EJ said, '' Nicole! Wait!'' He stood up and walked to Nicole. ''You were gonna leave me here weren't you?'' he asked and looked her straight to the eyes. ''I wanted to see if you really meant what you said.'' Nicole replied and tried to smile. ''Okay, shall we?'' EJ asked and pointed the door. Back at the mansion Nicole went to the room what was meant to be the nursery. She slid her hand on the walls and all of those good memories about having a baby and a family came back to her mind. ''Oh.. I just wanted that one little thing, but no.. Not for Nicole, the tramp, whore, bitch, liar..'' she said as she sat to the floor. She put her hand on her stomach, and almost felt a little kick. ''I would do anything to get you back my little angel. Anything..'' EJ was looking for Nicole, and found her from the nursery. ''Nicole! You shouldn't be here. It just brings up bad memories!'' he said and rested his hand on Nicole's shoulders. ''Bad memories!'' Nicole shouted. ''Was MY baby.. OUR baby a bad memory? Huh!?.. All you ever cared about was Sami and Johnny and your precious little family! What we were gonna have was just.. a bad memory! You sicken me EJ, get out of my way!'' Nicole shouted as she ran off. ''Nicole! Please! Wait! If you could.. You totally misunderstood what I said!'' EJ tried to say, but it was too late. Nicole had left. At the Brady pub Nicole sat alone drinking her martini. She thought it was perfect for the occasion. Everything was looking horrible for her, but things were about to turn worse. Because of Sami. ''Oh Nicole! You are.. drinking! What a surprise.. not! I hope that's not anything stronger than water cause you know.. it can harm the baby. Not that you cared..'' Sami said and sat next to Nicole. ''Shut up.'' Nicole replied and continued drinking her martini. ''What's the matter? EJ already threw you out? He realized that you were only a piece of.. nothing!'' Sami continued. ''Can you just go to hell Sami, and never come back?! My day is already worse enough!'' ''What happened? Seriously? Did something happen to that mutt? Was her name Poo... kie?'' ''Sami. If you don't shut the fuck up, I'll kick your ass!'' Nicole shouted as her skin turned red cause of the anger. ''Uuuu.. scary! You better watch it, cause you are pregnant!'' Nicole couldn't take it anymore. She slapped Sami to the face and shouted ''Already, it was worse enough that I lost MY BABY!! Yea, I had a miscarriage, you know, but that I have to deal with the most awful person in the universe!? Is that a bit too harsh don't you think!?'' she shouted as people kept staring at her. ''Have you lost a child?! Huh!? I don't think so, so you shut the hell up Sami!!'' she said as Sami's face went pale. ''I had no idea Nicole.. I..'' ''You what!? You're sorry?! Please! You couldn't be any happier!! The person you hate the most, just lost her child with your ex-husband! Hah! Can life get any better?!'' ''Nicole.. Calm down.'' Sami tried to say, but Nicole wouldn't listen. ''Calm down yourself! I spent 10 fucking hours in the fucking hospital just lying there, watching MY baby die! So don't you EVER, ever tell me to calm down!'' Nicole shouted furiously, drank her martini and left. |

Nicole was standing outside the pub. Tears were rolling on her pale cheeks. Why did this happen to her, why her?! She kept thinking, but was interrupted by Sami. ''Nicole. I'm so sorry for what I said. Seriously. I had no idea .. that... what happened. If there's anything I can..''she said. ''There's absolutely NOTHING for you to do Sami. I'm once again alone, yea.. You think EJ wants to have a wife like me? Like you call me Sami, I'm only a piece of trash!'' ''Go home Nicole.. Drinking isn't the key for happiness.''Sami kept saying. ''What do you know anyway!? Why are you being so nice to me Sami? Just cause I lost a child, it doesn't make me any less a tramp or a bitch!!'' Nicole shouted back, and start walking to her car. She felt like now she had reached to the rock bottom. She had lost the two things she ever cared about. Her baby.. and EJ. ''What could possibly go wrong anymore?'' Nicole said to herself and laughed. Back at the mansion EJ was sitting on the living room sofa. He held Johnny's teddy in his hand and thought about Nicole. ''I may not love you yet, but this can grow into something. If you would just give us a chance..'' ''I don't think that'll ever happen Elvis. I'm sorry'' Nicole said and went upstairs. ''Nicole! What.. Where were you? Talk to me!'' ''It's none of your business! I do what I want since there's no baby anymore!'' she said and kept going. ''Nicole. You're not the only one who lost a child here! Don't you care how I feel right now! I'm at the same situation than you, but I don't act like you!'' EJ finally said. ''EJ. You have Johnny. For me, this was the only chance in having a child. I have to live the rest of my life wondering what would my life be right now, if I would've had the baby!'' ''Whatever. If you're not willing to accept that I AM in the SAME situation that you are, fine! Then you must leave.'' EJ said quietly and drank his vodka. ***************************** It's a little short, but try to enjoy! :DD |

I think you're doing a very good job with characters having such realistic reactions. Everybody has complicated emotions and this isn't a hearts-and-flowers story. I really like it--keep going! |
