I'm just going to have to break down and ask: how do you "snag" a banner and add it it to your signature? Obviously I solved the avatar question, but banners baffle me. If anyone is kind enough to answer, remember to speak s-l-o-w-l-y to me, as I am very computer illiterate! Thanks in advance! |

This is how I do it : First, you need to choose an image hosting site such as photobucket.com, tinypic.com, or imageshack (personally I use tinypic and I like that one the best. Imageshack and photobucket have given me a lot of problems in the past). If you choose tinypic, you don't need to have an account to use their service. 1.Choose the banner you want 2. Right click on the banner 3. In the drop down box that appears, select (left click) "save picture as". Save the picture to your computer under whichever name you want. 4. Go to tinypic.com (I am just using this as an example) 5. On the homepage, it says "Upload Images and Videos". Directly under that, it says "Files" and there is a button tat says "Browse". Click this button. 6. Go to the banner that you saved to your files. Double click it, or click it once and press the "open" button. 7. Click the huge green button that says "UPLOAD NOW". It usually takes no longer than a minute and usually less than ten seconds to upload. It depends on how big the file is and your internet speed. 8. You'll see the image you've uploaded on the right of your computer screen. Click underneath of it where it says "View Full Size Image". 9. Right click the image. In the drop down box, left click "Properties", which is at the bottom of the box. 10. Highlight the address (URL), right click it, and left click "Copy" 11. Go to the Dirty Martini's homepage. 12. At the top right hand corner, click "Preferences", which is next to "Inbox" 13. Under "Profile Options", click "Change Signature", which is the second option. 14. In the box at the bottom that says "Edit signature", right click, and then left click/select "Paste" from the drop down box. 15. You should see the URL from your image that you uploaded to tinypic. 16. "Wrap" the URL in image tags-type [IMG] at the beginning of it and [/IMG] at the end of it. You can just use lowercase letters but when I was typing this the lower case letters wouldn't show up in the message. I like to "center" my signature too, which is done by typing at the beginning of it and at the end of it, but that part is optional. 17. If you want to preview your new signature, click "preview signature", or you can just change it immediately by clicking "Edit Signature". Another way to do this without using an image uploading site is to just right click the banner in the message, then left click "Properties" in the drop down box. Highlight the URL, and right click it. Click "Paste". Then, follow steps 11-17. However, should the banner for some reason get lost on the mesaage board then you're screwed because your banner is gone. That was happening a lot a few months ago when photobucket started deleting its banners. It's safer to have your banner uploaded to a hosting site, preferably with a membership (which is free). Also, some of these steps don't have to be done in the exact order that I listed. For example, it would probably be easier to just hace two tabs or two windows open-one with the image site and one with TDM site or whichever message board you're editng you're signature.
